Frequently Asked Questions

Q: “Do you take insurance?”

A: I am an out-of-network provider and don’t work directly with insurance companies. I offer Superbills for clients to submit to their insurance in attempts to get reimbursement for our sessions. I partner with Thrizer to help clients with the reimbursement process, ask me about it!

Q: “I can’t afford out of pocket… does that mean I can’t work with you?”

A: Accessing mental health services can feel impossible to some of us, especially as more and more clinicians are not taking insurance. In efforts to contribute to equal access to therapy, I budget to set aside reduced rate sessions each week. If you are interested in working with me but can’t afford the regular session fee, please don’t hesitate to reach out to check my availability for one of these spaces or join a waitlist to be notified if spots are not currently available.

Q: “Do you offer telehealth sessions?”

A: I do offer telehealth sessions for clients located in WA state. Please reach out if you are interested in telehealth sessions.

Q: “Do you offer in-person sessions?”

A: Yep! I offer in-person sessions at my office located in Woodinville, WA.

Q: What demographics do you work with?

A: I strive to create a safe therapy space for people who hold all sorts of identities. That being said - I am a white, cis, female provider. I encourage potential clients to think about what type of therapist would be the most beneficial for them to work with. It is important to me to provide therapy that is LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink-affirming, poly and ENM-affirming, as well as culturally competent and decolonial in practice. Clients often report having to work harder or conceal parts of themselves to some degree when working with a therapist that does not represent the communities, cultures, and ethnicities that make up their identities, which is worth considering as you search for a therapist who will be a great fit for you. I’m happy to help how I can on your journey to find that therapist if I am not that fit for you. :)

Q: “How long is a therapy session?”

A: Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long. 90 minute sessions may be available depending on the client’s needs in therapy and would be discussed with the therapist prior to planning 90 minute sessions.

Q: “I want to work with you, now what?”

A: We’ll schedule a free 20 minute consultation where I can hear about what your therapy needs and goals are and explain how I work with clients to determine if we are a good fit for one another. If we decide we aren’t, I’ll supply a referral to another awesome provider who can fit your needs. If we decide we are, I’ll send you intake paperwork and we will schedule our first session together!

Q: “What if I think we aren’t a good fit a few sessions in?”

A: I do my best to check in often with new clients about our progress, how they feel in the room with me, and what they feel they are getting out of our work together. I also work really hard to show my clients that I am a trustworthy therapist who welcomes hard conversations with her clients! If you ever worry that we aren’t a good fit, I would love to hear about your concerns so we can work together to get you a better fit or clear up what might be going on in the therapist-client dynamic if needed.

I recognize that there is a power dynamic in this role, so I don’t put the responsibility on clients to tell me when something is wrong. Instead, I work hard to stay tuned-in to when things feel “off” in sessions and lead us in those conversations to maintain client’s comfort and safety.

Q: “How many people can attend sessions?”

A: When it comes to in-person sessions my office space can currently accommodate up to 6 clients (family members or groups). Telehealth sessions work best if clients are limited to 5 or less (but more can join if you are sharing a camera/in the same space). Please reach out if you are seeking therapy for a larger family and wonder if I can accommodate you.

Q: “What is a therapy session with you like?”

A: The first couple sessions we will meet (either virtually through a secure telehealth platform, or in person at my office) and I’ll ask lots of questions about your situation, your goals, who’s in your circle, your history, etc. After our initial sessions gathering the basics, we will have conversations about what’s going on that week in your world depending on whatever you feel comfortable bringing to sessions. I aim to meet clients where they during each session, which means therapy can look different any given session.

With couples, we will meet together for our first session then I will meet individually with you each one time before we come back together for couple sessions. This gives you a chance to fill me in on anything you feel is important to our couples work together without us needing to use our couples sessions catching me up on as much essential background information. :)

Some weeks we might be ready for a lot of interventions and helpful strategies to improve our situation, and some weeks we might sit together in hard things and hold space together. No matter the content we cover that week, I will show up as my authentic self with my clients in each session. :)
